Barry Stein is a true recycler. Few people would be so adept at seeing things in a new light as Stein can. He uses the leftover horns from the cattle industry to create what are perhaps the finest carvings possible by the human hand. Equipped with the horn, a dental drill, and endless reserves of patience, Stein carves minute lines into feathers, scales and fur to turn everyday waste into eagles, goldfish, owls, cats, and more. No paint, stains, dyes or other colors are used in the process; only the natural grain revealed by the layers of horn in carving them. Real to the touch, the only added materials are acrylic eyes and the occasional wood base for balance. This is what we call going green! This hand carved turtle is 1 inch high by 2 inches wide.
